EPS recycling (https://www.panachemical.co.jp/en/styrol-recycle/) Pana-Chemical, started its business as a distributor of chemical materials for Matsushita Electric Works (now Panasonic Corporation), and witnessed the vast quantities of expanded polystyrene (EPS) that were being discarded at Tsukiji Market in Tokyo (which used to be the largest wholesale fish and seafood market in the world). The company decided to set up a circular recycling system that, over the years, has grown to dominate 80% of the national market in Japan and processes 30,000 metric tons of EPS a year. Pana-Chemical has to date, recycled over 1 million metric tons of EPS. The recycling mechanism by which EPS is heated and compressed into ingots is a method originated in Japan, and has made the company one of the leading recyclers in Japan. With this method that we call “J-EPS Recycling,” we have received high praise not only in Japan but also overseas, and it continues to be part of the foundation that underpins the global plastic resource recycling industry. Pana-Chemical is based in Tokyo, operates 13 warehouses across Japan, and cooperates with more than 100 processing centers. Processed resource plastic is strictly managed by Pana-Chemical until it is exported to the customer. Pana-Chemical has been commended by its suppliers and the media for enduring in an industry in which economic pressures have forced many companies out of business. It has also received many awards for its achievements.
