Comprehensive Research on Coastal Plastic Pollution

3SIP2C’s research is organised in five interconnected work areas: 

  1. Pathways

    This area quantifies and models the flow of plastic waste into coastal regions and examines its factors

  2. Business

    This area explores how plastics impact the lives of coastal communities and business activities such as aquaculture, fisheries, and tourism

  3. Health

    This area identifies the health implications plastics cause to ecosystem and human health

  4. Policy

    This area analyzes policies in order to determine which intervention is the most effective in mitigating plastic pollution and addressing its root causes

  5. Community

    This area collaborates with various stakeholders in raising awareness on the importance of the plastic issue
