Eco Digiclean Klongtoei

Eco Digiclean Klongtoei, launched in 2021, is a pilot project in Thailand's Klongtoei district involving 2,000 residents who deposit separated plastic waste at collection points. An app rewards them with credits, which can be exchanged for cash when they recycle. The collected plastic waste is auctioned on the app and tracked in real-time to buyers, including collectors and recyclers. By May 2023, over 200 tonnes of plastic waste have been collected.

This initiative aims to understand recycling behaviours and optimize local approaches. Klongtoei, with its large population and plastic waste generation, serves as an ideal testing ground. To meet Thailand's 100% recycling goal for targeted plastic waste by 2027, this model may expand to other districts in Bangkok.
