Together with Front Masyarakat Peduli Lingkungan (FMPL)/Community Front for Environment Care, Gili Eco Trust built Bank Sampah Gili Indah which is also the first recycling center in Gili Trawangan. Additionally, through contract and WhatsApp group, they share educational tips and reminders to the local community to hande their waste properly.
As part of their eco-tourism initiative, Gili Eco Trust established a zero waste shop where they sell products and souvenirs that are made of eco-friendly materials, including reusable tote bag to promote plastic-free behavior to tourists. Furthermore, this shop also collaborated with local artisan to showcase their products.
This weekly event is aiming to bring tourists and locals to join up in a one hour beach cleaning session. They collected plastic and marine debris, then sort them out. In each year, this activity successfully collected 7,000kg of waste.
