Maritime waste collection

Their maritime waste collection works have been implemented in many countries, including certain Southeast Asia countries such as Indonesia, Cambodia, and Philippines.

  1. Indonesia

    oeoo in collaboration with the Schwarz Group and Waste4Change launched a river cleaning project in Bekasi, Indonesia in March 2021. This project is done by using three SeeHamster collection vessel, which is the smallest collection vessel by oeoo with the length of 4.5 meters, a width of 2 m, and a collection capacity up to 500 kg.

  2. Cambodia

    In Cambodia, oeoo is operating with the aim to clean the Mekong River by 2025. Their first project started in 2018 in Battambang, then continued expanding to Phnom Penh (2021), Kampong Cham (May 2022), and Sihanoukville (2022). The projects are done with the help of dedicated workers and volunteers, equipped with the SeeHamster collection vessels. The collected trash is then transported using Tuk Tuk or truck to oeoo’s collection centre, then it will be cleaned, dried, sorted, and  pressed into bales for further procession and sale.

  3. Philippines

    The cleanup in the Philippines is done in 2022. It is carried out in Manila Bay, one of the most polluted water bodies in the world, using oeoo’s latest waste collection ship, The Circular Explorer. This ship is transported all the way from Kiel, Germany. Furthermore, the work is carried out using a new system that can collect up to 4 tonnes of plastic waste per day. Not only waste collection, this project is also concerned in conducting education and science programs.

One Earth - One Ocean (oeoo) is an environmental organization based in Munich that concern on water and coastal protection by cleaning the ocean from plastic waste using the concept they developed called “Maritime Waste Collection”. The ocean collection is done by special ships and the collected plastic waste will be recycled or converted back into oil.
