“Mogu-cup” is edible beverage container

Asahi Breweries, Ltd. proposes a shift in people’s dietary lifestyle from using disposable containers to using edible containers, selling edible containers in collaboration with Marushige Seika Co., Ltd. Mogu-cup is an edible beverage container made from potato starch grown in Japan.

By heating and solidifying the raw material at a high temperature and high pressure, the edible container becomes more resistant to water and prevents it from leaking the liquids it contains. The container is seasoned so that consumers are able to enjoy the combination of the beverage and the flavor of the edible container. By making proposals to reduce plastics while having fun, we will contribute to the realization of a sustainable society and aim to create a fun lifestyle that the Asahi Group advocates.

Launched in 2021, Mogu-cup available in four flavors: “plain”, “shrimp”, “chocolate“ and “nuts”. There are three sizes, S (50 ml), M (100 ml), and L (200 ml).

Mogu-cup also contributes to SDGs items other than “disposable reduction” such as utilization of local materials (local production for local consumption) and health materials.
