Green Points: Towards A Network of Zero Waste Cities in Vietnam

The Green Point model is a sustainable initiative designed to foster recycling and waste sorting within communities by establishing Green Points—dedicated spots for collecting recyclable waste, especially plastic. This effort aims to enhance quality of life and support environmental protection.

The initiative began with piloting Green Points in select urban and industrial areas, incorporating green technology solutions to test feasibility. Following successful pilots, the model will expand to establish a network of green, smart cities.

Key customer groups: Households, individuals, small and medium enterprises, restaurants, supermarkets, and investment organizations.

Recycling Support and Incentives: The initiative provides guidelines on recycling or reusing plastic waste at home, an app for scheduling waste collection, and maps of collection points in Green Point areas. Users can schedule reminders for timely waste disposal, earn points for correct recycling, and redeem points for rewards from local partners.

Scale and Expansion Plans:

2023 – 2024:

• Collect 500 tons of recyclable waste per year

• Manage 5 Green Points using technology

• Reach 2,000 participants through educational programs

• Improve access to Green Points for 20,000 people

2025:

• Increase to 100 Green Points

• Collect 3,500 tons of recyclable waste in collaboration with Grac - and Partners

2030:

• Establish 10,000 Green Points

• Collect 400,000 tons of recyclable waste

• Expand to the APAC region and beyond

Expected Outcomes:

• Environmental Impact Reduction: By streamlining recycling and waste management, Green Points reduce mismanaged plastic waste in the environment.

• Cost Savings and Rewards: Customers save on waste disposal costs through proper sorting and can redeem points for services and products from Green Point project partners.
